He was a model man A Beatles fan A catch in any blessed sea But he spent every day A world away Wondering what he could have been Watching out the window City slips away Generation exit Help me through today Hey hey He had the dream again The one that ends Falling to the solid ground But he could see it now The where and how Free and clear and all around Maybe all the pressure didn’t make a gem Anyone can sparkle We can live again Take me I am ready I can feel it kicking in As he looked out At the city And the lights called out “come with me” All he had to do was open up his arms Wouldn’t you believe I’m flying for the first time Know I’m not the first one breaking through the cloud line It’s awful gray between holding your own And just hanging around Hey hey Take a little piece to use As a souvenir Remember where you were before And just know You might never be there again He made the great escape But wide awake Mind and body finally free It only goes to show The more you know Doesn’t mean it’s easy to see Maybe all the pressure didn’t make a gem Anyone can sparkle We can live again Take me I am ready I can feel it kicking in As he looked out At the city And the lights called out come with me All he had to do was open up his arms Wouldn’t you believe I’m flying for the first time Know I’m not the only one breaking through the cloud line Harder than it seems when your racing to the finish line It’s awful gray between holding your own And just hanging around It’s awful gray between holding your own And just hanging around Hey hey

Sing like a bird in the backyard Drink in the day’s lazy end Tear up the calendar I never want to come in Shaking my shoes out the car door There’s sand in the tobacco field Let’s drive to the water again Let the burning heal Come back July I never said goodbye She falls in love every morning Safe in the arms of the sun But every night It gets harder to keep him at home Sure as the gun in the sideboard Sure as the chill from the window Reminds me you’re gone Come back July I never said goodbye You need to kiss me one more time I want you to make me cry Come back July I never said goodbye Light all those Lonely Roman candles Into that August sky Come back July Shoot out the lights at the state fair You can keep all the colors of autumn I’m over and gone Come back July I never said goodbye You need to kiss me One more time I want you to make me cry Come back July I never said goodbye I want to dance so fast I fall down Before that August light Come back July Come back July Come back July Come back

I will take full advantage of this life Starting now Start the car and just drive all night All right All out I may get lost once again But it’s all I know There’s a reason we all give up Give in Give out Someday I’ll be a broken toy A life Played out I may Be lost Once again But I don’t want to go home I don’t want to go home I don’t want to go home This is a big world I know where my heart is And I don’t want to go home I looked to the sequined sky I have received The peace I was missing in life And I don’t want to leave I could stay here and write my life Again Starting now Come and stay for a while Forever you’re Allowed We may Be lost Once again But I don’t want to go home I don’t want to go home I don’t want to go home This is a big world I know where my heart is And I don’t want to go home

How bout I start with a list of the reasons to run Carefully prepared to ensure that my chances are none So cautious because of the last time I told myself never again No no Talking to strangers could lead to the danger inside But I got a laugh from the story I was planning to hide So cautious because of the last time You told yourself never again But here we are under porch light I'm gonna pack up my belongings and run It's much to hard to explain Explain Away again I can't begin to explain Explain The pain again I'm hiding in the rain Six months later and it's running around in my mind Wondering what did I get myself into this time I feel like a fool but I don't care She might as well hear it from me I'm already starting to quiver  I don't know a thing about If we're in love or just hanging out But I don't care and I'd have say to those who'll surely ask It's much too hard to explain Explain Away again I can't begin to explain Explain The pain again It's much too hard to explain Explain Explain

Me and my baby My baby and me Going to see what there is to see We could be lazy Lazy and free Floating around From tree to tree Well we made our life in the city But our heart lives down the road There's a light from the kitchen window But there's nobody Nobody home Cats in the doorway Persian breed Waiting to see what there is to see Mail on the table None for me One more day That I am free Well we made our life in the city But our heart lives down the road There's a light from the kitchen window But there's nobody There's nobody home It's okay I've had my turn at last It's okay I've had my turn at long last It's okay I've had my turn at long last Maybe you'll see me tomorrow And we can try it again Maybe you'll see me tomorrow And we can try to be friends Well we made our life in the city But our heart lives down the road There's a light from the kitchen window But there's nobody There's nobody home There’s nobody Nobody home (Me and my baby) There’s nobody Nobody home (My baby and me) There’s nobody Nobody home (Going to see what there is to see) There’s nobody

I hear from the birds most every day They can’t keep their full mouths shut As much as I try to look away Right there in the headlines, “She’s Back”. All that we were Will always remain But it doesn’t matter now You told me why But I never wrote it down Curse this tiny town So much for the free They’re always bored No fight to wake up for I swear Keep meaning to move on As you say But you’re there in the rearview Drive on All that we were Will always remain But it doesn’t matter now You told me why But I never wrote it down Curse this tiny town And all the stupid dances Count the checks The debt And all the overlooked advances Here we go again I take the same walk Most everyday It keeps me from losing ground So if you should see me On your way Don’t think that the stars said so ‘Cause they lie All that we were Will always remain But it doesn’t matter now You told me why But I never wrote it down Curse this tiny town All that we were Will always remain But it doesn’t matter now You told me why But I never wrote it down Curse this tiny town

People tell me we just make the cutest pair You’d be wise to put a ring on that finger there Is it something in the water A spell you all fell prey That no one wants to ever see you walk away I remember life was simple And mail  came once a day Well here’s the latest word ‘cause Everybody wants me to love you Everybody wants me to love you The roar of the crowd every time I’m around you Telling me to make it so I just don’t know I had my heart broken one too many ways Hard falls, brick walls, waiting on a call for days If my bad luck weren’t my strong suit I’d swear you placed your bets On mister lonely heart having a full house yet And all the people in our circle Are spinning once again I might as well give in 'cause Everybody wants me to love you Everybody wants me to love you The roar of the crowd every time I’m around you Telling me to make it so I don’t know I’m damaged and broken at the seams But give it time And maybe I’ll join the chorus  Singing, singing, singing. Everybody wants me to love you Everybody wants me to love you The roar of the crowd every time I’m around you Telling me to make it so and so and so and so  Everybody wants me to love you Everybody wants me to love you The man in the moon and the stars above you Telling me to make it so

The train doesn't come here anymore It used to stop outside my kitchen door I've evolved Found a way To adapt my day-to-day But I never changed for you The weeds in the garden reach for me To the sun the moon the tops of every tree I have grown With the vines Sunk my roots in warmer climes But I never changed for you I’ve never changed I’ve never changed I never changed for you Revised Repossessed in a way Repaired And recalled Yesterday I always know when I've been acting strange But I've never changed for you I washed all my clothes in gasoline And abandoned my unique identity  All my plaids All my stripes Burned a brilliant runway white But I never changed for you Revised Repossessed in a way I never changed I never changed For you I never changed You know I’m still the same I’ve never changed

I have a telephone It's like a little home That I hide in I go right in I like my privacy You could connect with me If you tried to Put you right through On the line I go right on Right on Right on Right on line I go right on Right on Right on Right on line You see them everywhere Held up to every ear Like a conch shell Hear the sea swell They say my future's bright I dim my screen at night Can you find me To remind me Attention everyone Attention almost gone It's a safe bet If I just get On the line I go right on Right on Right on Right on line I go right on Right on Right on Right on line I go right on Right on Right on Right on Right on! I used to look ahead  But this is the future In the palm of my hand No matter where you are A plane a train a car Just can’t beat my telephone there I have a telephone It’s like a little home Can you see me And my TV I need to talk to you I don’t know how to do What I used to I can’t get through On the line I go right on Right on Right on Right on line I go right on Right on Right on Right on line I go right on Right on Right on Right on Right on! You could be everything I want You could be everything I need If I could hold you in my hands I could fulfill my dreams Solo

about

Colorway is a dynamic, original trio from Northampton, MA who play pop-rock songs infused with inventive, energetic and melodic lead guitar. The band's second album, The Black Sky Sequined (mastered by Bob Ludwig) was called "One of the finest rock albums of 2015" by Ric Albano (Modern Rock Review) and Diffuser's Chuck Armstrong called the band's single "Come Back July" "impossibly catchy" when they premiered the video in 2015. Colorway has recently opened sold out shows for The Yardbirds, Delta Deep (feat. members of Def Leppard and Stone Temple Pilots) and Foreigner. The band was also included in this year's Green River Festival which Rolling Stone named a "must see" music fest.

Though the easy way to describe the style of music is pop-rock, don't be fooled. The band can jam, and are convincing audiences far and wide that it's possible to extend the boundaries of the traditional four minute song and still have it stuck in your head all day.

The Short Story:
Colorway didn’t start the rock revolution, but its fighting spirit is certainly strong. Band leader F. Alex Johnson stands tall, front and center and sings about why love, loss, recovery and the search for contentment isn’t something to scoff at. But his searing guitar work is the real star here, bending, bobbing and and weaving lyrical solos up and down the neck. His extensive experience from recording and performing in the U.S. and around the globe isn't worn on his sleeve. But you can see it and feel it in the way he does what he loves—what’s he’s done almost all of his life.

The power trio format—guitar, bass and drums—is the perfect vehicle for Colorway’s music. Space is as important as density here, and bassist Matt Clegg and drummer Riley Godleski hold down the proverbial fort with equal parts grace and ferocity. Meanwhile, Johnson powers on, sometimes teetering dangerously close to aural chaos but somehow always coming in for a secure landing.

In short, Colorway, who calls Northampton, Massachusetts home, is a reflection of three very different people’s love of music in all its forms.

Come join the rock revolution and see, hear and feel what Colorway does. They promise it will be one hell of a time.

A little bit longer of a story:

F. Alex Johnson formed Colorway in early 2013 in Northampton, Massachusetts along with bassist Dave Hayes (Superkart/Heather Maloney) and drummer JJ O'Connell (Heather Maloney/MC Frontalot).

The band seamlessly fuses stuck-in-your-head pop songs with ferocious Gilmour/Zappa-influenced guitar playing. Colorway’s self-titled 2013 debut included the song “Live With Me”, which was chosen by WRSI 93.9 (AAA radio) listeners as the #3 song of the year.

Colorway wasted no time releasing their second album, The Black Sky Sequined, which was recorded by Mark Alan Miller and mastered by multiple Grammy award-winning engineering legend Bob Ludwig.

The ten song album features nods to rock and pop luminaries like Tom Petty, Wilco, Richard Thompson, The Black Keys and XTC. But Colorway does so while maintaining a rough edge and original sound that aims to speak to music fans of any generation. Alex’s subject matter touches upon the joys of life, the heartache of loss and the terrifying beauty of a life currently lived clean and sober in a crazy and punch-drunk world.

The first single, "Come Back July" was chosen by the listeners WRSI 93.9 (AAA radio) as one of the top ten songs of the year.

In July of 2015 bassist Matt Clegg and drummer Riley Godleski joined the group replacing Dave and JJ.
